Belo's monthly Revenue and Statistical Report June 2001

Dallas, TX -- Belo(NYSE: BLC) issued today its statistical report for the month of June.

Broadcast Division revenues decreased 6.7 percent for the month of June on a pro forma basis. Local revenues were down 2.2 percent while national revenues were down 10.9 percent. Publishing Division total revenues were down 10.6 percent in June on a pro forma basis, with a 12.0 percent decrease in advertising revenue.

June Newspaper Linage
At The Dallas Morning News, total full-run advertising linage, including preprints and supplements, was down 7.6 percent over last year. Retail was down 4.1 percent. General volume was down 14.1 percent primarily due to the loss of .com advertising. Classified volumes were down 9.6 percent with continued weakness in classified employment.

At The Providence Journal, total full-run advertising linage, including preprints and supplements, decreased 19.2 percent, while total full-run ROP was down 11.0 percent. Retail, general and classified volumes decreased 21.5 percent, 16.8 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively.
