Belo names Boone Senior Vice President/Finance

Dallas, TX -- Belo(NYSE: BLC) announced today that David S. Boone has been named senior vice president/Finance. Boone, 41, will report to Dunia A. Shive,
executive vice president/Chief Financial Officer, and be responsible for Belo's corporate accounting, financial analysis and planning, and tax and treasury
functions. Boone joins Belo with more than 18 years experience in corporate finance and business development.

In making the announcement, Shive said, "We are pleased to have David join Belo and lead our finance group. David's experience is a perfect complement to our existing management team and his addition completes our financial organization."

Boone most recently served as vice president/corporate development for Safeway Corporation. Prior to that, he served as vice president/Chief Financial Officer and secretary of Intira Corporation from 1999 to 2000. From 1992 to 1999,
Boone held several executive positions with Frito-Lay, Inc. including finance director/CFO Direct Division and vice president/business development.

Boone served as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group in 1988 and later joined Kraft General Foods in 1990 as director of sales strategy and finance.

Boone holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
