Higgins named General Manager of KASW-TV and Station Manager of KTVK-TV in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ -- Belo (NYSE: BLC) announced today that Mark A. Higgins has been named vice president and general manager of Belo's KASW-TV (WB) and station manager of KTVK-TV (IND) in Phoenix, Arizona, effective June 17. Higgins will report to Donald F. "Skip" Cass, Jr., Belo's Southwest group head and president and general manager of KTVK.

In making the announcement, Cass said:

Mark's extensive background in station management, broadcast sales, marketing, news and production along with his experience in the Phoenix market make him the ideal candidate for this position."Prior to joining Belo, Higgins most recently served as vice president and general manager of WOFL-TV (FOX) in Orlando and WOGX-TV (FOX) in Gainesville, Florida since 1999.

From 1998 until 1999, Higgins was general manager of KWVB-TV (WB) and KFBT-TV (IND) in Las Vegas and from 1997 to 1998 served as general manager of KUPN-TV (UPN) in Las Vegas. He also held various station management positions with WTVT-TV (FOX/CBS) in Tampa between 1989 and 1997, serving as vice president/station manager, director of sales and local sales manager. Between 1984 and 1989, Higgins worked for KTSP-TV (CBS) in Phoenix, holding the positions of local sales manager, national sales manager and account executive. Higgins began his career in Tucson as a management trainee with the Tucson Citizen newspaper and later served as director of sales for the Las Vegas Sun newspaper.

Active in industry affairs, Higgins held the roles of chairman and vice chairman of the FOX affiliates' board of governors from 2000 through 2002. Higgins has served as a board member of the Television Bureau of Advertising's Sales Advisory Committee, the CBS Marketing Advisory Council and on the executive committee of the WB General Managers Board.

He has served as president of the Tampa Bay Broadcaster's Association and on the board of fellows of the University of Tampa.

Higgins attended the University of Arizona and has served as an instructor at Arizona
State University and the University of Tampa's postgraduate mass communications program.
