Belo concludes affiliation with CareerBuilder

Dallas, TX -- Belo Corp. (NYSE: BLC) announced today that its relationship with CareerBuilder will conclude effective August 1. CareerBuilder has served as Belo Interactive's vendor for online recruitment products since April 2001. Colleen B. Brown, Belo's senior vice president/Business Development, said: "We have enjoyed a successful affiliation with CareerBuilder, and have mutually determined that it is best to conclude the relationship at this time.

"The online recruitment business has experienced significant consolidation and change during the past year. At the same time, the market for online recruitment continues to show tremendous promise - particularly for media companies with powerful, well-established local franchises such as Belo. Leveraging these strong local brands to build market share and achieve profitable growth will remain the focus of Belo Interactive's online recruitment strategy."
