KING 5 TV honored with two Gracie Awards

Seattle,WA -- KING 5 TV is proud to announce that it has been honored with two Gracie Allen Awards given by the American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT). Award winners will be honored at a luncheon on June 25, 2003 at the New York Hilton Hotel. The KING 5 recipients are as follows:

Local Markets 1-25, Sports Category: "Playing Like a Pro," Joan Kinsey, Mimi Gan, Tom Voelk, Eric Riddle, an Evening Magazine segment on the Mariner's Fantasy Camp

Local Markets 1-25, Public Affairs Category: "Who Will Teach Our Children?" Mimi Gan, Brenda Louie Miyake, Margaret Larson, Mike Cate, a one hour documentary exploring the teacher shortage and retention problems in Washington state

The Gracies were established in 1975 to honor radio, television, cable and new media programming created by women, for women and about women in entertainment, news, drama, documentaries and features that are creative and realistic in their recognition and treatment of the roles, issues and concerns of women.
