Adding onto the garden: Belo Expositions' Second Annual Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show

Dallas,TX -- Belo Expositions' Second Annual Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show will add a formidable partner in 2004: the long-running and widely respected NARI Home Show, sponsored by the Greater Dallas Chapter of the National Association for the Remodeling Industry (NARI). The partnership adds a unique dimension and takes The Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show to a new level, providing consumers with a comprehensive look at the latest in landscaping, gardening, outdoor living and home improvement ideas and solutions. NARI will create a "Home Improvement Neighborhood," featuring home facades showcasing home improvement products and services within the Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show's impressive garden settings. The show, presented by WFAA-TV, Channel 8 and The Dallas Morning News, will be held Feb. 20-22, 2004, at the Dallas Convention Center.

"Last year we created a very entertaining and informative experience, with garden settings built to life scale and incredible detail. But the NARI neighborhood will make the show even more spectacular and bring a new level of value to visitors," said Patrick Buchen, CEM, Belo Expositions' general manager. "We are extremely proud to partner with NARI."

The successful NARI Home Show has been produced in Dallas since 1989. It is considered to be the prototype for similar shows around the country. NARI's mission is to bring consumers into direct contact with the latest in home improvement goods and services, as well as with experts and professional contractors, so they can ask questions and make better home improvement decisions. Exhibitors typically include remodeling contractors and suppliers of flooring, windows, wall coverings, plumbing, spas, decks, patios, foundations, sunrooms, pools, cabinetry, electrical, roofing, interior design, home theater, home technology and many other types of products and services.

The Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show enters its second year after a very successful inaugural event. The show's mission is to feature products, services and solutions to simplify, inspire and enrich outdoor living. Modeled after the highly respected Philadelphia and Boston Flower Shows, it will provide unique shopping opportunities and showcase international, national and local guest speakers and celebrities against a backdrop of beautifully constructed gardens designed by the region's leading landscapers.

"Belo Corp. has the resources and determination to make The Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show a destination event for the Southwest," said Buchen. "Texas is the third-largest flower-growing state in the Nation and a perfect environment to develop a world-class event."

Exhibitors will present and demonstrate products and services, educate consumers and provide information that enables thousands of homeowners to see, touch, compare and make wise decisions about their outdoor living and home improvement purchases. Special event stages will feature prominent gardening and landscape celebrities, premier chefs on the outdoor kitchen stage, interactive sports and children's areas, and the latest in home d(c)cor and organization. A charity Playhouse Auction will also be held, sponsored by The Dallas Homebuilders Association, which last year provided more than $12,000 to HomeAid Dallas.

In its debut year, The Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show attracted nearly 10,000 visitors. The show featured over 37,000 square feet of skillfully landscaped gardens, over 150 retail exhibitors, top landscapers and builders, interactive presentations and activities, floral demonstrations by designers and florists, outdoor cooking by area chefs and an impressive lineup of speakers.
