Spirit of Texas blood drive set

Houston, TX-- KHOU-TV, Channel 11 will hold the 13th annual Spirit of Texas Blood Drive on August 28 and 29, at the AIG American General Center located at 2727 Allen Parkway. Blood donations will be taken from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

In an effort to help raise awareness about the critical need of blood during the summer months, KHOU will broadcast live from AIG American General on Thursday, August 28. KHOU will also air updates throughout the day on Friday, August 29, to ensure an adequate supply of blood for the Labor Day Holiday.

Mobile blood units at area Kroger stores are also accepting donations throughout the month. For a list of dates and stores, log on to www.khou.com. All those who attempt to donate will receive a free Spirit of Texas Blood Drive T-shirt and a coupon for a free pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream.
