WB6 launches NewsMix6: new morning pogram mixes news and music videos

Phoenix, AZ -- A fresh, new approach to morning television hit the air today with the launch of NewsMix6 on WB6, KASW-TV. NewsMix6 is a two-hour, locally produced show featuring news, weather and today's most popular music videos. NewsMix6 will air weekdays from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.

"Think headline news meets music television," says Mark Higgins, vice president and general manager of WB6. Higgins created the concept and is excited to see it come to life, "NewsMix6 is a brand new style of television and WB6 is the first to do it in Arizona. NewsMix6 is tailored to the 'on-the-go' needs of our WB viewer."

NewsMix6 will provide viewers with music videos from many of today's hottest artists including Shania Twain, John Mayer, Evanessence, Madonna, Dave Matthews Band, Jewell, Norah Jones, The White Stripes, and Michelle Branch among others.

Viewers will also receive the latest world, national, state and local news headlines as well as entertainment information. In addition, NewsMix6 will provide the current time and temperature, daily weather forecast, and the 3-day outlook. Higgins says NewsMix 6 is also planning targeted programming and promotions to celebrate special occasions like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and holidays.

In launching NewsMix6, WB6 is partnering with Clear Channel radio station KMXP Mix 96.9 and will feature its popular morning personality, Chris Parker. Parker will appear on NewsMix6 several times throughout the morning. Mix 96.9 will provide its expertise in the areas of music selection and marketing.

"The partnership with Mix 96.9 and WB6 is a perfect fit for both stations. We're excited to be a part of something new and different. It should be fun!" says Alan Sledge regional vice president of programming for Clear Channel Radio Phoenix.

WB6 is KASW-TV and can be seen over the air on channel 61 and on Cox cable channel 6.
