Frederickson named publisher of The Business Press
Riverside, CA -- Joseph H. (Joe) Frederickson, vice president/Marketing and public affairs for The Press-Enterprise Co., and publisher of the Community Publications Group of weekly newspapers, has been named publisher of The Business Press. He will continue with his marketing and public affairs responsibilities for the company.
Frederickson succeeds Tom Paradis, who has become automotive advertising sales manager within the company's classified advertising division.
"We thank Tom for his successful tenure with The Business Press and for his excellent work in launching the d, our new desert publication," said David Cornwall, CEO of The Press-Enterprise Co. "He will now oversee a division that represents one of our most important advertising categories. I know he will succeed in that role as well," Cornwall said.
Frederickson has participated in many Business Press events, overseeing marketing and serving as master of ceremonies. He will be succeeded in the Community Publications Group post by Kathy Michalak, vice president/Circulation for the company.
He was chairman of the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce in 2001-2002 and has long been active in the Inland community through service on various boards and commissions. His current board roles include seats with the University of California, Riverside Foundation Board of Trustees; SmartRiverside; the Riverside Library Foundation and the Stater Bros. Riverside Orange Blossom Festival. He was named "Community Leader of the Year" by the Community Foundation in 2003 and is a member of the Hemet-San Jacinto Action Group.
"I'm looking forward to working with the fine Business Press staff and getting to know our customers and how we can better serve their needs," Frederickson said.
Paradis, with the company since 1991, has served in various advertising management positions and as general manager of the Community Publications Group. He is a past president of the California Newspaper Advertising Executives Association (South).
"Having spent the last 20 years publishing weeklies, niche publications and small daily newspapers, my new position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the classified advertising department of a large daily newspaper. It will be a complement to my retail experience and will help fulfill my career goals," Paradis said.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
