"Love Your Heart: A HealthLink special with Jean Enersen" airs January 30 on KING 5

Seattle, WA -- KING 5 News Anchor Jean Enersen, who has recently been awarded the American Heart Association's Howard L. Lewis broadcast award for presenting life-saving information on cardiovascular disease, will be hosting "Love Your Heart: A HealthLink Special with Jean Enersen." She is dedicated to finding out why women are becoming victims of heart disease and will reveal the steps they can take to prevent it. This one-hour special will air on KING 5 on January 30 at 10pm and will be rebroadcast February 2 at 7pm on NWCN and February 8 at 8pm on KONG 6/16.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America. A common misconception is that heart disease only affects men and the elderly, although it actually kills more women under 45 than any other single disease. One in eight women will die of breast cancer, but one in three will die of heart disease.

Jean flew to Washington D.C. to interview First Lady Laura Bush who is on a crusade to educate women about heart disease and we will learn how she has been personally touched by it. Mrs. Bush is involved with the Heart Truth campaign that encourages women to wear red dresses to bring more public attention to the issue.

By learning how to lead a proper lifestyle, women can lower their risk of heart disease by 82 percent. Jean interviews local women ages 35-65 that will share their frightening experiences fighting heart disease plus medical experts share advice and new breakthroughs that can dramatically reduce your risk of heart disease.

Jean interviews women who have been affected by heart disease including:

* A woman who had to have a heart transplant because her blood pressure was exceptionally high without her even knowing it - until it was too late.

* Jean follows a local book club as they take a simple "Healthy Heart Exam" to evaluate their risks and we will find out their results with the audience during the show.

* Patty Duke, the classic TV star and Eastern Washington resident, will explain what she did during her career that led to her heart disease.
