Belo television stations win 32 regional Murrow Awards, leading all competitors in Texas and the Northwest
Dallas, TX -- Belo Corp. (NYSE: BLC) said today that its television stations earned 32 Edward R. Murrow Awards in regional competitions across the country " winning nearly one-third of all the award categories for which they were eligible to compete. In Texas and the Pacific Northwest, Belo stations won half of the awards for which they were eligible.
Ten Belo stations won 32 of a possible 103 awards in six Murrow regions. In Region 6, which includes Texas and Oklahoma, Belo won 12 of a possible 24 awards. In Region 1, which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, Belo won eight of 16 awards. Three Belo stations "KHOU-TV in Houston, KING-TV in Seattle/Tacoma, and KVUE-TV in Austin" won the award for overall excellence.
