KHOU-TV finished the May 2004 sweeps as Houston's news leader
Houston, TX -- KHOU-TV Channel 11 finished the May 2004 sweeps as Houston's new news leader with number one finishes at noon, 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to Nielsen media research.*
"I'm proud of where we are and what we've done since last May," said KHOU-TV President and General Manager, Peter Diaz. "Viewership for the entire station is way up over last year." The biggest increase was 11News at 5 p.m. KHOU finished 40 percent higher than a year ago.
KHOU also won the 4 p.m.-time period with the Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah's show on KHOU posted the largest audience jump in the nation over last May with a 53 percent increase. KHOU also won the 6:30 p.m. time slot with Wheel of Fortune. KHOU wins prime time with help from CBS and a strong performance. KHOU was number one in the Houston marketplace from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m. Houston is the nation's 11th largest television market.
