Houston business owners take center stage on new magazine program from KHOU-TV and Belo Marketing Solutions

Houston, TX -- KHOU-TV Channel 11 and Belo Marketing Solutions next week will debut What's New America? Houston Edition, a fast-paced, 30-minute magazine program that puts its sponsors center stage providing Houston business owners the opportunity to tell their stories and promote their products and services during each program segment. The program, which will air monthly, premieres at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 12, on KHOU.

"Local businesses want a television program through which they can showcase their products and services in a more unhurried format than a 30-second commercial provides," said Lisa Shumate, executive director of Belo Marketing Solutions, a special business unit within Belo Corp. that provides customized solutions for advertisers. "For the viewer, What's New America? is an entertaining and informative way to learn more about the businesses and products in their community."

What's New America? Houston Edition will be hosted by local television personality Craig Roberts. Each month the program will be filmed on location at various Houston-area attractions.

The inaugural "Fun in The Sun" program features a road trip to Moody Gardens in the new Ford F150 to showcase the hottest summer attractions. The show will include decorating tips from Star Furniture Style Correspondent Grace Carter, innovative beauty products from the Beauty Elite Group, new medical breakthroughs from Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream's latest flavor sensations.

What's New America? is an innovative programming opportunity from Belo Marketing Solutions. Sponsors purchase a two- or three-minute segment that offers branded entertainment and the opportunity to tell their story. Belo Marketing Solutions manages the development of the segment, from concept and writing, through production and placement of the story. What's New America? will soon debut local editions on Belo-owned stations in Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin.
