KREM-TV to air "Generation at Risk: A Family Health Check Special"

Spokane, WA -- Childhood obesity is reaching epidemic proportions nationally and locally. Nearly 20 percent of U.S. children and teens are overweight or at risk for being overweight. KREM 2 News anchor Nadine Woodward explores the obesity epidemic affecting children and teens throughout the Northwest in "Generation at Risk: A Family Health Check Special with Nadine Woodward," Wednesday, June 30, at 9 p.m. on KREM 2.

The program examines a range of social and psychological issues that are contributing to childhood obesity.
We'll explore how Spokane's District 81 is drawing national attention for changing the way children think about food and exercise.

We'll also reveal how much sugary, fatty food children consume every day.
Plus, a teenage girl explains how her battle with obesity almost tore her family apart, and how she turned her life around by losing more than 100 pounds.

"Generation at Risk" includes information on how parents can help their children make healthier food choices at home and restaurants. The show also shares three simple steps every family can take to beat obesity.
