Ron Pivo named new sports director at KGW-TV

Portland, OR -- Ron Pivo has been named the new sports director at KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8.

Ron has been an award-winning sports journalist and anchor as well as the host of "Sports Sunday" since joining NewsChannel 8 in October, 1998. Most recently, he was named The Oregon Association of Broadcasters "Sportscaster of the Year" for 2004. Ron will do sports weeknights at 6, 6:30, 10 and 11 pm.

Ron's prior experience includes working as a sports reporter and anchor at KMTR-TV (NBC) in Eugene, as Sports Director at KOBI-TV (NBC) in Medford and as Sports Director at KPIC-TV (CBS) in Roseburg.

A native of Encino, California, Pivo graduated from California State University-Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Minor in Sociology.

Ron and his wife Joanna have a daughter named Izabella.
