KGW-TV tops all NBC stations during vice presidential debate

Portland, OR -- It's a reflection of the Northwest's strong interest in the upcoming election. KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8 was the nation's highest-rated NBC affiliate among fifty-six metered markets during the vice presidential debate between Dick Cheney and John Edwards on Tuesday, October 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On that day, the ratings of the country's top six NBC stations were as follows:

KGW Portland: 13.7 rating/22.3 share

WTMJ Milwaukee: 13.5 rating/19 share

WKYC Cleveland: 13.0 rating/16.8 share

WDIV Detroit: 12.9 rating/16.7 share

WJAR Providence: 12.0 rating/16 share

KING Seattle: 12.3 rating/19.6 share

In addition, KGW was the second highest-rated debate station in the nation to WPVI in Philadelphia (ABC).

The next televised presidential debate on NBC will be Friday, October 8 from 6-8 pm. The final presidential debate will be Wednesday, October 13 from 6-8 pm. NewsChannel 8 and The Oregonian will televise a live hour-long Portland mayoral debate on Tuesday, October 26 at 7 pm.
