KGW-TV Northwest finishes 23rd Annual Great Toy Drive

Portland, OR -- KGW-TV, Northwest NewsChannel 8, recently finished its 23rd Annual Great Toy Drive, collecting 40,000 toys for underprivileged children across Oregon and Southwest Washington. A record number of 61 agencies in nine counties received toys to distribute to tens of thousands of needy children.

"Our viewers always respond but we've never seen such an outpouring of generosity as we did this year. Our studio couldn't hold all the toys. This year we had toys overflowing into the lobby and hallways," said Paul Fry, Northwest NewsChannel 8's President and General Manager. "Much of our success goes to our two great sponsors, Les Schwab and Regence BlueCross BlueShield, whose staffs give us unbelievable support in pulling off this event."

Collection sites included Les Schwab Tire Stores, the Regence BlueCross BlueShield offices in downtown Portland, and the Northwest NewsChannel 8 studio.
