Houston, TX -- KHOU-TV Channel 11 held a successful effort for the victims of the tsunami and helped raise more than $455,000 for the Bush-Clinton Tsunami Relief Fund. A phone bank was set up at the Channel 11 studios with volunteers on hand answering phones and accepting pledges throughout the day and night

Former President George Bush helped kick-off the telethon Thursday, January 13, with a live appearance on 11 News This Morning. Several other celebrities and community leaders, including Astros pitcher Roger Clemens, country singer LeAnn Rimes, Houston Texan's owner Bob McNair and Gallery Furniture's Jim McInvale were also on hand to help raise funds on behalf of the tsunami victims.

Among the large contributors to the Bush-Clinton Tsunami Relief Fund were Bob McNair who donated $300,000 on 11 News at Noon. Jim McInvale made a large donation to the fund January 5. The contributions will be distributed through the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
