King 5 honored with three regional Edward R. Murrow awards

Seattle, WA - KING 5 Television is proud to announce that it has been honored with three prestigious Edward R. Murrow awards given by the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). THE RTNDA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.

KING 5 won the following awards in the Large Market category for Region 1, which includes Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Oregon and Washington:

1. Overall Excellence
This is KING 5's second consecutive award for Overall Excellence.

2. Web Site (Broadcast Affiliated)
King5.com was recognized for its dual role in disseminating information from KING 5 News broadcasts while simultaneously generating original content. KING 5's web site was selected for its superior design, content, and interactivity.

3. Sports Reporting
Michael King, Dino Delarosa and Kevin Glantz won the regional Murrow for Ballboy, the story of an 80-year-old fan who chases home run balls in the parking lot at Tacoma Rainier games.

These regional winners will move on to the national competition. National Edward R. Murrow awards will be announced in June.
