Polay named Director of Online Operations at The Providence Journal Company

Providence, R.I. Sean A. Polay of Sandwich, Mass., has been named director of online operations at The Providence Journal. Polay oversees the design and programming of The Providence Journal's Web site, projo.com, including the site's commercial and multi-media production. He also directs product development and achievement of the newspaper's online news and sales goals.

Polay joined The Journal Company in 1999 and has worked as projo.com's news & operations manager, production manager and production coordinator. Prior to joining the Journal, Polay was managing editor of the Cape Cod Journal, one of the country's first online-only newspapers.

Polay studied journalism and political science at the University of Southern California. He serves as secretary of the New England New Media Association and on the board of Sandwich (Mass.) Historical District Committee.
