Murphy named City Editor at The Providence Journal Company
Providence, R.I. Timothy S. Murphy, of Wakefield, has been named city editor at The Providence Journal Company. In this position, Murphy supervises 35 reporters, assigns and edits stories and coordinates all-editions coverage for the newspaper.
Murphy joined The Providence Journal Company in 1983 and has served as assistant managing editor, Sunday Journal editor, regional manager and as a reporter. Before joining the Journal, he was a reporter for The New London (Conn.) Day.
Murphy has a bachelor's of arts degree in English from the University of Connecticut.
