Areson named Metropolitan Managing Editor at The Providence Journal Company
Providence, R.I. Susan H. Areson, of Hope Valley, has been named metro managing editor at The Providence Journal Company. In her new position, Areson will oversee the reporting, editing and editorial support staff for the news, business and sports departments.
Areson joined The Providence Journal Company in 1986 and has served as city editor, deputy managing editor, West Bay regional editor, Sunday Journal editor and section editor. Before joining the Journal, she was managing editor of the Haverhill (Mass.) Gazette and also served as managing editor, assistant managing editor and reporter/photographer for the Providencetown (Mass.) Advocate.
Areson has a bachelor's of arts degree in English from Colby College. She also studied journalism at the Boston University School of Public Communication.
