KVUE #1 in Every Newscast
Austin, TX -- KVUE News continued its news ratings dominance in Austin according to Nielsen Media Research by winning every newscast Monday through Friday during the month of February. This is the second year in a row that KVUE News has dominated the February ratings.
"KVUE continues to set the bar for excellence within the Central Texas market. The staff's dedication to our goal of providing news and information of importance to our viewers ultimately results in the achievement of our #1 ranking," KVUE's president and general manager, Patti C. Smith, states.
KVUE's "DayBreak" 6-7 a.m. won its time slot for the fifth straight ratings period with a 4.1 rating nearly doubling its nearest competitor. KVUE's 5 p.m. newscast also won its slot for the fifth straight time with a 6.9 rating, doubling its nearest news competitor's rating. "KVUE News at 6" continued to grow audience, with a 6.8 rating and a second straight # 1 finish. Plus, "KVUE News Nightbeat" won the coveted 10 p.m. slot for the third time in the last four ratings periods.
This strong ratings news is underscored by the announcement that KVUE News has been honored by the Texas AP with 21 journalism awards in recognition of excellence, more than all other Austin stations combined.
