Northwest Newschannel 8 Wins Gold in the February Sweeps

BELO STATION ONE OF TOP STATIONS IN COUNTRY IN OLYMPIC VIEWING

PORTLAND, OR -- The February sweeps concluded yesterday, March 1, and KGW Northwest Newschannel 8 won the sign-on to sign-off battle for the twenty-fifth consecutive sweeps. The station's position as the news leader continued as KGW won every local news time period .

Viewership of the Winter Olympics demonstrated the overall strength of the station. Northwest NewsChannel 8 earned the third highest viewing of the Games in prime time in the entire nation. In weekend coverage, KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8 placed first in the country. NewsChannel 8's Monday through Friday prime time audience outdistanced the nearest competitor by more than 50%.
