13NEWS and WVEC.COM Honored With 2006 Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards

Norfolk , VA. -- WVEC-TV13 receives two 2006 EDWARD R. MURROW REGIONAL AWARDS. 13NEWS AT 5:00 wins Newscast: large television market and WVEC.COM wins Web site (broadcast-affiliated).

"I am thrilled that we have won two very prestigious awards. While each of these awards is special in its own right, the fact we are competing against stations in larger markets, including Washington D.C., and Baltimore make these accomplishments even more gratifying," said President and General Manager Nick Nicholson. "It takes a team effort to turn out the quality product we deliver every day." Nicholson added.

"13NEWS and WVEC.COM have an outstanding reputation for providing up-to-date and relative information Hampton Roads viewers want. This is truly an honor." said Rich Lebenson, News Director, WVEC-TV13. The Radio-Television News Directors Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow's pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
