WVEC-TV13 honored with 2 VAB Awards from The Virginia Association of Broadcasters

Norfolk, VA -- WVEC-TV13 was recognized with two VAB Awards on Friday, June 16th. The Virginia Association of Broadcasters sponsored the annual Station Awards Program, honoring the best work of Virginia broadcasters for the 2005 calendar year.

Outstanding Website, Commercial Television was awarded to WVEC.COM. "It's very gratifying to be honored by the Virginia Association of Broadcasters as the best television Website in Virginia," said Pete McElveen, News & Operations Manager for WVEC.COM. "13NEWS is a brand people trust for local news and information, and WVEC.COM offers a way for people to get that information on demand, to study it, discuss it, print it, or forward it. This is an exciting time to work on a local news Website, and we are honored to be recognized for excellence by the VAB." McElveen added.

Best Station Promotion, Commercial Television was awarded to Creative Services' Spirit of Hampton Roads for weather brand promotion. "I'm delighted that this campaign has reached high visibility and impact with viewers," said Director of Creative Services and Production Matt Earl. "T he team set out to create a unique and memorable spot, but we are very much humbled by this VAB recognition." Earl added.
