WHAS11's Commitment to Breaking News and Severe Weather Wins July Sweeps!
Louisville, KY -- WHAS11's commitment to breaking news, severe weather and top story news coverage continues to win ratings for WHAS11 growing evening news at 5 and 5:30p year to year and May results as well! WHAS11 widens the gap at 6pm without contesting on the other channels. WAVE-TV slides back into the #3 slot for early evening news moving WLKY into the #2 position.
The preliminary results are in and WHAS11 is the #1 NEWS Source winning more competing newscasts Monday through Friday than any other local TV station. The final results show more Kentuckiana households get their news from WHAS11 News than from any other station. Here are the highlights:
M-F 5a WHAS11 wins the early morning news as the #1 News Source from 5 to 6 am with a 29% lead over WLKY and 17% lead over WAVE.
M-F 6a WHAS11 is the #1 News Source from 6 to 7 am with a 14% lead in viewership over WAVE, 11% lead in viewership over WLKY.
M-F 12n WHAS11 is the #2 News Source at Noon still maintaining a 52% lead in viewership over WAVE.
M-F 5p WHAS11 is the #1 News Source at 5pm with a 47% lead in viewership over WAVE, 16% lead in viewership over WLKY.
M-F 5:30p WHAS11 is the #1 News Source @ 5:30pm with a 38% lead in viewership over WAVE-TV, and a 20% lead in viewership over WLKY-TV.
M-F 6p WHAS11 is the #1 News Source @ 6pm widening the gap with a 14 % lead in viewership over WLKY at 6pm and 28% lead in viewership over WAVE at 6pm .

M-F 7-9a Good Morning America and Diane Sawyer dominate the airwaves in Louisville during this Time Period with a 38% lead in viewership over the Today Show on NBC (WAVE) it next closest competitor. It maintains a 53% lead in viewership over CBS (WLKY). (5.8 / 17.3 / 37)
M-F 10-11a Millionaire continues to dominate the Time Period of 10-11am with 34% growth year over year for that Time Period; 65% higher then the closest competitor for the Time Period. (4.3 / 12.5 / 32)
M-F 4:45-5p Lead-in audience share grew 20% on WHAS11's 5pm news! This is coming from Oprah which is in summer reruns. WLKY on the other hand experienced a decline in audience share during the 5pm news coming off fresh Y&R programming (WHAS 4:45p = 5.9 / 12.4 / 30 to 5pm with 7.2 / 15 / 46)
M-F 6:30p ABC's World News with Charles Gibson was the #1 Network News source with a 35% lead in viewership over NBC (WAVE), 25% lead in viewership over CBS (WLKY), (8.4/ 16 / 53).
