WVEC-TV13: July Ratings Success in Hampton Roads for 13NEWS!
Norfolk , VA. -- More Hampton Roads residents get their local news from WVEC-TV13 than any other station in the market according to Nielsen HH Overnights for July 2006.
13NEWS wins based on HH ratings. The 5:00-7:00 AM time period is up over last year; specifically, the 5:00 AM leaping +26% and the competitive 6:00 AM hour experienced a +7% increase. "This book clearly points to the fact more and more viewers prefer WVEC-TV13. It is a key indicator of viewer preferences," said President and General Manager Nick Nicholson. "By consistently delivering a great product, viewers recognize the station they should turn to for local news," Nicholson added.
WVEC-TV13 won sign-on to sign-off again capturing a 12 share of the audience compared to Channel 3's 8 share and Cannel 10's 9 share. This is the eighth consecutive rating period where we are #1 sign-on to sign-off, and by the greatest margin yet.
M F Morning News WVEC-TV13 increased our share of audience at 5am and 6am. We grew our share of audience at 5am by 38%, and grew our share at 6am by 8%.
M-F 5pm WVEC-TV13 grew our share of audience at 5pm from an 18 share to a 19 share (+6%). We delivered more news viewers at 5pm than our competition combined.
M-F 5:30pm We maintained our 18 share of audience from a year ago, and we delivered more news viewers than our competition combined.
M-F 6pm We maintained our 18 share of audience from a year ago, and we delivered more news viewers than our competition combined. WVEC-TV13 was the only station in the market to maintain or grow share in all time periods during the 5-6:30pm news block.
M-F 11pm We were within 3/10th's of a rating point of tying Channel 3 for 2nd at 11pm.
Sa/Su Morning News Our weekend early morning newscast grew 12.5% year to year, and we were the only morning newscast in the market to grow share.
Sa/Su Evening News We maintained our audience share from a year ago.
