WHAS11's Commitment to Kentuckiana Viewers for Breaking News and First Alert Weather Delivers Growth in Evening News for November Sweeps!

LOUISVILLE, KY WHAS11's continued commitment to breaking news, first alert weather, and top story news coverage continues to resonate with local news viewers and is producing winning ratings for the station. WHAS11 News Good Morning Kentuckiana, and WHAS11 News at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, and 6:00 PM continued to increase book to book over the past three sweeps!

The preliminary results are in and WHAS11 is the #1 NEWS Source winning more competing newscasts Monday through Friday than any other local TV station. The final results show more Kentuckiana households get their news from WHAS11 News than from any other station. Here are the highlights:

M-F 5a WHAS11 experiences sizeable growth with the consumption of morning news trending upward. WHAS11 experiencing a 27% growth in this news hour year to year! WHAS11's average household rating at 5am was 3.8 with a 16 share.

M-F 6a WHAS11 from 6 to 7 am has grown viewership by an average of 16% over both the July and May Sweeps.

M-F 12n WHAS11 is the #1 News Source at Noon still maintaining a 41% lead in viewership over WAVE and 5% lead in viewership over WLKY.

M-F 5p WHAS11 is the #1 News Source at 5pm with a 33% lead in viewership over WAVE, and a 17% lead in viewership over WLKY.

M-F 5:30p WHAS11 is the #1 News Source @ 5:30pm growing its lead over the competition with 40% lead in viewership over WAVE-TV, and a 33% lead in viewership over WLKY-TV.

M-F 6p WHAS11 is the #1 News Source @ 6pm widening the gap with a 20 % lead in viewership over WLKY at 6pm and 29% lead in viewership over WAVE at 6pm .

WHAS11 sustains lead in other areas of programming.

M-F 7-9a Good Morning America and Diane Sawyer dominate the airwaves in Louisville during this Time Period with a 20% lead in viewership over the Today Show (with the addition of Meredith) on NBC (WAVE) its closest competitor. It maintains a 28% lead in viewership over CBS (WLKY). (5.9 / 16.6 / 38)

M-F 10-11a Millionaire continues to dominate the Time Period of 10-11am with 7% growth year to year for that Time Period; widening the spread between WHAS and its closest competitor for the Time Period by 95%. (4.3 / 13 / 27.5)

M-F 6:30p ABC's World News with Charles Gibson was the #1 Network News source with a 26% lead in viewership over Brain Williams at NBC (WAVE), 39% lead in viewership over Katie Couric, and CBS Evening News (WLKY), (9.6/ 16.7/ 62).

M-F 7-8p Entertainment Tonight showed significant growth book to book (22%) and has also grown over the past 3 books! ET delivers the same ratings as the game show Wheel of Fortune on WLKY and a 63% lead in viewership over WAVE3 News at 7pm! The same holds true for Inside Edition which has experienced growth over the past 3 books. (WHAS 7p = 8.8 / 15 / 57 and 7:30p delivered 7.8 / 13 / 51).

M-Su Prime ABC's Prime is on an upward trend from the past 2 books and year to year! WHAS and ABC prime have experienced 6% growth year to year and a 34% lead in viewership over WAVE3. WLKY's prime has fallen off by 12% over the past year. (WHAS = 9.4/ 14/ 61).
