WHAS11 News Reigns Tops for Evening News!
LOUISVILLE, KY -- The WHAS11 News commitment to delivering breaking news, first alert weather, and top story news coverage continues to resonate with local news viewers and is producing growth in newscasts and daily network and syndicated programming.
The preliminary results are in and WHAS11 News continues to be the #1 NEWS Source for evening news at 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00 p.m. The final numbers show more Kentuckiana households get their evening news from WHAS11 News than from any other station. WHAS11 News grew its lead in viewership at 5:00pm over WAVE and at 6:00 p.m. grew 4% over February 2006 sweeps a year ago. This confirms our focus and dedication to delivering what the viewers want!
ABC World News with Charles Gibson maintains its lead and remains the #1 Network News source for the local market. Viewers prefer Charles over Brian Williams on NBC and Katie Couric on CBS! The national trend is following Charles and the WHAS11 News lead.
WHAS11 shows growth in other areas of Daytime and Access programming.
Millionaire since its launch in September of 2005 has dominated the 10:00am time period! In February, Millionaire posted the best ratings yet delivering an average 5.3 household rating! This is a whopping 26% growth over the November sweeps period and 89% higher rating than its closest competitor.
Access which includes Entertainment Tonight (ET) and Inside Edition (IE) has also shown growth from February last year. Inside Edition has shown growth over the past 5 books!
ABC continues to deliver strong Prime programming for the local market!
Grey's Anatomy was the #1 regular prime program for the February sweeps in the Louisville Market, delivering higher ratings than CSI and American IDOL! Grey's Anatomy grew over 50% from the November sweeps averaging 22.3 / 29.5 share.
One of the best new programs of the 2006-2007 season is Ugly Betty which also grew its audience 53% over the November 06 sweeps! Thursday night is proving to be a very strongline-up for WHAS11 in addition to the Sunday line-up with Extreme Makeover Home Edition along with Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters!
