WVEC.COM Honored With 2007 Edward R. Murrow Regional Award

NORFOLK -- WVEC-TV13. WVEC.COM receives the 2007 EDWARD R. MURROW REGIONAL AWARD for outstanding achievement in electronic journalism. "This recognition, for a second year in a row, reflects the continuing success of WVEC.COM," said President and General Manager Nick Nicholson. "I'm excited that, in addition to providing the best broadcast news coverage for Hampton Roads via 13NEWS, our on-line power of WVEC.COM leads by example and this prestigious award reaffirms that direction," Nicholson added.

"The Edward R. Murrow Award is a tremendous honor for our site." said WVEC.COM News and Operations Manager Pete McElveen. "In the large market television category for Region 12, we compete against Web sites in Washington and Baltimore. Winning this award three out of the last four years is very gratifying," McElveen added.

The Radio-Television News Directors Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow's pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
