KHOU-TV Channel 11 Scores Ratings Victory in May

Houston, TX - KHOU-TV Channel 11, Houston's only local station broadcasting in HD, announces victories in the May 2007 Nielsen rating period, with impressive wins in all important news time periods.

Channel 11 is once again Houston's number one television station winning all major newscasts in the morning, mid-day, at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. according to Nielsen Media Research. 11News at 5pm finished almost two rating points ahead of its nearest competitor during the May sweeps period.

Channel 11 programs finishing first in the May ratings period include: "11News This Morning," "The Price is Right," "The Young and The Restless," "11News at Noon," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "11News at 5," "11News at 6," "The Insider," "Jeopardy," "Wheel of Fortune" and "11News at 10."

Houston's only live local weekday entertainment program, "Great Day Houston" finished second in its time period.

According to Nielsen Research, 11News has been number one at 5pm and 6pm since February of 2005. Anchored by veteran newsman, Greg Hurst and Houston newcomer, Lucy Noland along with Chief Meteorologist Dr. Neil Frank and Giff Nielsen, 11News at 10 has finished as Houston's number one late newscast in every rating book since February of 2005 with the exception of one. Houston is the nation's tenth largest television market.
