Northwest NewsChannel 8 Named Oregon Association of Broadcasters' Television Station of the Year

Belo Station Wins Top Honors at 2007 Awards Banquet

PORTLAND, OR- KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8 was honored with four top awards from the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. It was the only Portland television station to win in any category. For the fifth consecutive year, NewsChannel 8 won the prestigious "Television Station of the Year" award.

The station also won for "Best Newscast," "Best Original Program Produced by Station," and "Best Photography."

Awards were presented to broadcast stations throughout the state at a banquet held Friday, September 14 at the Hilton Eugene and Conference Center.

"We're honored to be recognized as Television Station of the Year for five years straight," said KGW General Manager DJ Wilson. "We take our commitment to the community and to quality journalism very seriously. It's fitting that our program, 'Then Now Always,' a special that marked our 50th anniversary, was honored as it showcased our newsgathering efforts over the last five decades."
