Belo Names Timothy J. Morrissey President and General Manager of WCNC-TV in Charlotte
DALLAS Belo Corp. (NYSE: BLC) announced today that Timothy J. Morrissey has been named president and general manager of WCNC-TV, Belo's NBC affiliate in Charlotte, beginning October 15, 2007. Morrissey brings to WCNC more than 30 years of experience in news and station management and has spent the last 16 years at The New York Times Company Broadcast Media Group where he served in a variety of executive roles, most recently as divisional vice president overseeing five network-affiliated television stations.

While at The New York Times Company Broadcast Media Group, Morrissey served as president and general manager of KFOR-TV and KAUT-TV in Oklahoma City from 1996 to 2007. Under his leadership, KFOR won a 2007 national Emmy Award for Live Breaking News Coverage, a 2007 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast, and Station of the Year honors from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters in 2005 and 2006. Morrissey also served as president and general manager KFSM-TV in Fort Smith from 1995 to 1996, and vice president of news for The New York Times Company Broadcast Media Group from 1991 to 1994.
Prior to his tenure at The New York Times Company Broadcast Media Group, Morrissey was a news director at various television stations from 1984 to 1991 including: WJZ-TV in Baltimore, WNEP-TV in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and WISN-TV in Milwaukee.
Morrissey has also served on the NBC Affiliate Board, the NBC NewsChannel Board and the ABC News Advisory Board.
