WHAS11NEWS Achieves Impressive Growth in Every Newscast

Louisville, KY -- The preliminary February 2008 Nielsen Ratings are in and the results clearly show WHAS11NEWS as Kentuckiana's #1 source for news and information. WHAS11NEWS showed both rating, share and total household growth over February '07 in every single newscast the station produces. WHAS11NEWS ranked as the #1 local newscast in the market at 5:00am, 6:00am (M-F and Saturday), 12:00N (tie), 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm and Sat/Sun 6:30pm. WHAS11NEWS tied for #2 at 11:00pm. The Nielsen Ratings results also show that more people watch WHAS11 than any other local TV station!

WHAS11NEWS Good Morning Kentuckiana increased its 5:00am audience share by 33% adding 8,000 more homes to its average. GMK at 6:00am increased its audience share by 40% and added 17,000 more homes to its average this February 2008!

WHAS11NEWS at Noon received its highest household rating in the past four years (since Feb2004) with a 5.7 rating/ 14 share and 38,000 homes viewing.

WHAS11NEWS at 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00pm is a long-time leader in news and continues to build on that strength! February 2008 marks the 3rd Ratings Sweep in a row that WHAS11NEWS at 5:00pm, 5:30pm and 6:00pm have increased audience share signifying a definite growth trend.

WHAS11NEWS at 10:00pm which airs on WBKI-TV, the local CW affiliate, had a 3.0 rating/ 4 share and 19,000 homes M-Su 10-10:30pm. This is a record sweep rating for the newscast which premiered only two years ago in January 2006.

WHAS11NEWS AT 11:00pm tied for #2 M-SU growing audience share 20% and adding 5,000 audience homes. Combined with WHAS11NEWS at 10:00pm, WHAS11 is clearly the late-evening news market leader.

WHAS11 showed strong audience increases across the day! In Daytime, Regis and Kelly, Millionaire, and The View were all up over Feb07. Millionaire (5.7 rtg and 37,000 homes) reached more homes than WLKY (16,000) and WAVE (19,000) combined!

Oprah on WHAS11 ranked #1 M-F 4-5pm and averaged a 6.9 rating/ 13 share.

In late fringe, ABC Nightline was up 22% over last February, and also up 4% over November's share growth. Weekend late fringe: CSI Miami and Cold Case showed strong increases (+31%) Saturday/Sunday 11:30pm-2:00am.

Louisville Cardinal Basketball on WHAS11scored a very strong rating in February, posting the strongest afternoon game of the past 3 seasons with a 19.6 rating / 34 share on Sunday, February 24th! The Louisville/Pittsburgh game ranks as the 4th highest program in the market for the February Sweep!

The #2 Program of Nielsen's February 2008 Sweep aired on WHAS11 (Super Bowl was #1) and featured Louisville at its best ABC's Extreme Home Makeover featuring the Hughes Family. The program was viewed by 262,000 homes in Louisville with a 39.9 rating/51 share, and 13.5 million people across the U.S.!
