KGW NewsChannel 8 to Televise Live Town Hall with Senator Hillary Clinton
KGW NewsChannel 8 is only Portland station to host televised presidential candidate event
PORTLAND, OR -- KGW NewsChannel 8 announced today that it will televise a live one-hour town hall with Senator Hillary Clinton on Friday, May 16 at 7:00 PM. The town hall will be held in the KGW NewsChannel 8 studio with primarily an audience of registered Democratic voters.
Hosted by KGW NewsChannel 8 anchors Tracy Barry and Joe Donlon, the town hall will allow voters to directly question Senator Clinton as the Oregon primary nears. It is the only town hall with a presidential candidate to be held at a Portland television studio and broadcast live.
KGW NewsChannel 8 has extended an invitation to Senator Barack Obama's campaign for him to appear with Senator Clinton on Friday's telecast, or to have his own town hall broadcast on the station on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday night. Senator Obama has not yet committed to appearing.
"With this important primary on Tuesday, it's important that voters have a chance to understand candidate's views and how they might affect Oregon," said DJ Wilson, president and general manager of KGW Newschannel 8. "We're pleased to be able to offer this significant opportunity to voters. Most importantly, all Oregonians regardless of party affiliation or which candidate they support should exercise their most important civic duty and vote."
The press is invited to attend the town hall event.
