North Kingstown High School and Deering Middle School repeat as scholastic journalism champions
PROVIDENCE R.I. - The Current Wave, the student newspaper of North Kingstown High School, recently took first place for the fifth consecutive year in the best newspaper category of the 24th Annual Providence Journal Scholastic Journalism Critique & Competition. Taking top honors for the third straight year in the Middle/Junior High School Division was the student newspaper of West Warwick's John F. Deering Middle School, For Your Information.
A professional and academic panel of journalists and photographers from The Providence Journal and the University Of Rhode Island Department of Journalism judged more than 70 individual student entries in photography, writing and illustration.
Individual student winners and winning newspaper staffs received trophies and professional critiques of their work.
