WWL-TV to Host Final Live, Televised Debate Between Louisiana's Two Major U.S. Senate Candidates

WWL-TV and a consortium of Louisiana television stations will host a live, televised debate between the major candidates for U.S. Senate on Wednesday, October 22 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Campaign 2008: The Final Debate will be carried on WWL-TV Channel 4 in New Orleans and on wwltv.com. The one-hour, commercial-free program will also be carried on CBS television affiliates across the state, including WAFB Baton Rouge, KSLA Shreveport, KLFY Lafayette, KNOE Monroe as well as NBC affiliate KPLC Lake Charles. C-SPAN is also scheduled to carry the live program.

Questions for the candidates will come from a panel of journalists representing the affiliated TV stations, and from questions submitted by viewers.

Moderated by WWL-TV news anchor Dennis Woltering, the debate will include both major candidates: Democratic incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu and Republican state treasurer John Kennedy.

The candidates were invited to participate, based on a set of criteria adopted by the stations group, including campaign finances and results of independent polls.
