HOUSTON -- KHOU-TV/DT Channel 11 President and General Manager Susan McEldoon is Broadcasting & Cable's 2008 General Manager of the Year, Markets 1-25.
In part, B&C's naming of Susan is recognition of her steadfast leadership while guiding KHOU through Hurricane Ike. The judges distinguished Susan's performance in overcoming this challenge as particularly impressive, given its enormity during the first year of her tenure as GM.
"Under Susan's direction, KHOU weathered the storm, helped the community rebuild and embodied the Sprit of Texas," said Peter L. Diaz, Belo's Executive Vice President/Television Operations. "However," he continued, "Susan would be the first to say such an honor is not the single culmination of her leadership, only a reflection of hard work and dedication exhibited by the entire KHOU team."
Broadcasting & Cable featured a special section highlighting Susan and this major-market honor in its December 22, 2008 issue.
