New Orleans, La. - WWL-TV Channel 4 and world-renowned artist James Michalopoulos have joined together to support Boys Hope Girls Hope. This non-profit organization is dedicated to helping academically-capable children in need reach their full potential. As part of this unique fund-raising drive, Michalopoulos has designed a first-of-its-kind sterling silver pendant. Purchase of the jewelry will be promoted by WWL-TV, with all proceeds benefiting Boys Hope Girls Hope.
"The `Hope-alopoulos Pendant' is in the style of an old New Orleans home," said Cory Howat, Executive Director of Boys Hope Girls Hope. "That's significant because the funds we collect will be used to build a new home for the girls that we take care of. Our two previous boys and girls homes were lost during Hurricane Katrina. It really is an exciting project, and we're extremely grateful to both James and Channel 4 for helping us out."
Boys Hope Girls Hope assists motivated children-in-need by providing them with a safe home, moral guidance and education through college. With the help of the Louisiana community, Boys Hope Girls Hope helps the children transcend their circumstances and transform their lives.
Featured in the series of public service announcements are WWL-TV anchors Mike Hoss and Lucy Bustamante. Bustamante said, "I became familiar with the project through a friend who said she had never seen a non-profit group be so hands on and productive with children who come to them as strangers-in-need and leave the program as family. I had to see what it was about. I learned BGHP has saved dozens of children from the negative influences of their upbringing and given them a structured life filled with positive surroundings. We are honored to be supporting them."
The sale of the "Hope-alopoulos Pendant" is available through the Boys Hope Girls Hope website for a donation of $285. They are limited-edition numbered pieces and come complete with display bag and a unique Michalopoulos tag.
