Dallas-Fort Worth Area Winner Puts Community First in ABC "Extreme Makeover: "American Dream Edition" Promotion

April 2, 2009 - Dallas, Texas - In the spirit of the inspiring television series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," ABC is continuing to make American dreams come true, by giving away a total of $1 Million to help selfless individuals donating their time to community causes, in spite of their own financial hardship, as part of the "Extreme Makeover: American Dream Edition" promotion.

For a period of three weeks after January 1, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) encouraged viewers to share inspirational stories of people in the D-FW community giving time to nonprofits or charities, even though they had experienced economic hardship as a result of the current U.S. financial crisis.

WFAA-TV recognizes Helen Zimba of Carrollton, Texas. While she has recently suffered hardships of her own, she has continued to selflessly donate time and effort to Bryan's House, which provides medically managed child care, respite care, and community-based family-centered support services. Ms. Zimba was selected to receive $5,000 for her inspirational work and due to her efforts, Bryan's House also received $5,000 to help continue in their important mission of serving the North Texas community.

In addition, utilizing $1,000 in event-funds provided by ABC, WFAA-TV has connected with Bryan's House to create a unique community event where viewers may learn more about the charity, its inspirational mission and help gather additional donations through a unique "Extreme Baby Shower" at the station's Victory Park studio near downtown Dallas.

Details of this event are as follows:
