KING 5 is Runaway Market Leader with March Ratings Increases

SEATTLE, WA - KING 5 continues its dominance in the Seattle-Tacoma market with unprecedented ratings growth in news, local and syndicated programming, as well as NBC network increases.

Compared with March 2008, the just-completed March 2009 sweeps reveal that KING 5 household ratings have increased in every hour from 7 a.m. until midnight. Ratings with the key demographic of Women 25 54 increased each hour from 6 a.m. until midnight. The Adults 25 54 ratings improved most hours of the day as well. KING 5 is dominating its competition in every daypart.

In the highly-prized news competition, KING 5 reigns supreme with substantial victories in Households, Adults 25 54 and Women 25 54 against all morning news competitors. KING 5 handily beats the other newscasts at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. in all key demographics, as well as showing growth over March 2008.

KING 5 is now the only commercial television station in the Seattle-Tacoma market producing a stable of local programs outside of news. Evening Magazine won its time period with Women 25 54 and showed growth in all major demographics. The award-winning public service program KING 5 News Upfront, the popular Gardening with Ciscoe, high school sports highlight show HS GameTime, and the travel and lifestyle program Northwest Backroads won their time-periods in key demographics. KING 5's syndicated programming, including Ellen, Bonnie Hunt, Dr. Phil, Inside Edition and Oprah all showed ratings growth in March, as did NBC's primetime network ratings.
