KHOU-TV Wins Six Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards
HOUSTON - The Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) has recognized KHOU-TV 11News and KHOU.com with six regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in electronic journalism. The KHOU team received the most awards for a large market television station in the entire Texas-Oklahoma region, including the award for Overall Excellence and the award for best Web Site, KHOU.com.

The station also received an award in the category of Continuing Coverage for its uninterrupted reporting of Hurricane Ike, staying on-air and online for 91 consecutive hours. Other category award winners included: Feature: Hard News Slaughtergate (Brad Woodard, Frank McBride); News Series A Dangerous Lesson (Jeremy Rogalski, Keith Tomshe, David Raziq) and Writing Write This! (Jeremy Desel).

RTNDA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Judges awarded a total of 540 regional awards in 2009. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
