Louisville, KY- WHAS11 was recognized for the broadcast industry's highest award in news receiving the 2009 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for "Overall Station Excellence" and for "Investigating Reporting." In addition, WHAS11NEWS recently received twenty-two (22) nominations for the Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters Awards, more than any other station in Kentucky. WHAS11 ultimately took 1st place in 10 of 22 categories, including "Best Spot News", "Best Continuing Coverage" and "Best Investigative Reporting". The station's news department also came away with 3 second place and 8 honorable mentions, and a special "Best In Show" Award was given for the one entry that stood out above and beyond all the others. That award was given to WHAS11NEWS Investigative Reporter Adam Walser for his outstanding coverage of Robert Felner. The Edward R. Murrow Regional winners automatically become eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June. The national Edward R. Murrow Awards will be presented October 12 at the RTNDA Awards Dinner in New York.
