Tim Ring Joins KTVK as Sports Director
Brings Wealth of Local and National Broadcast Experience
PHOENIX, AZ - KTVK-3TV is proud to announce Tim Ring has been hired as the station's Sports Director. Ring brings with him a wealth of local and national broadcast experience.
Ring joins 3TV after a seven-year stint with Fox Sports Net in Denver, where he anchored the "Rocky Mountain Sports Report." Ring also worked as a sportscaster in Florida and Wisconsin, covering pro teams and local sports.
"We really liked that Tim had been a sports producer first, working at WGN in Chicago for five years at the start of his career," said Brad Remington, executive news director. "Tim is the perfect fit for 3TV. He has a fun and friendly on-air style, but make no mistake, he's quite serious about providing Arizona viewers with the best local sports coverage in town."
Unlike most main sports anchors, Ring won't be a Monday through Friday guy. "Expect to see Tim anchoring on the weekends, when the high schools, college and pros are playing, and our viewers have more time for sports," Remington says. Tim will co-host the weekly Sunday night sports show at 9:30 p.m. with Brad Cesmat. Also expect to see an expansion of 3TV's local sports efforts over the coming months, with much more high school coverage, and specials on our favorite pro and college teams.
Ring is an award-winning sportscaster, collecting an Emmy for pre-game coverage of the Miami Heat. He also was named Best Sportscaster by Westword magazine after just one year in Denver. A native of Chicago, Ring is a 1991 graduate of DePaul University. He and his wife, Fay, have identical twin sons, Connor and Dylan.
