Robert McCollum Joins WFAA's Good Morning Texas

Dallas, Texas - Local improvisational actor, comic writer and producer Robert McCollum has joined the staff of WFAA's a.m. talk and information program, Good Morning Texas.

"After living and working in the area for more than 15 years, Rob knows D-FW and brings an interesting creative spark to GMT," said Dave Muscari, WFAA vice president/product development, and the program's executive producer. "The fact that he's a dad also helps him connect to the concerns of the many parents among GMT viewers. I think our audience will enjoy his warmth, and sense of humor."

McCollum will join Good Morning Texas regulars Amy Vanderoef and Paige McCoy Smith, the program's "Not-So-Perfect-Parent," as well as a host of lifestyle, fashion, health, and products and services contributors on his first day, July 27.

A native of Bentonville, Arkansas and a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, McCollum moved to Dallas in the early 1990s to work in marketing and sales.

After deciding to give improvisational comedy a try, "just for fun," he said, "I eventually abandoned the left side of his brain completely to become a full-time actor."

McCollum has been active in many aspects of the television and film industry working on camera, doing voice-overs for commercials, corporate films and cartoons in the United States and the United Kingdom. He also enjoys acting on stage and has performed with several notable North Texas theaters and serves on the board of the Second Thought Theater Company.

When not working McCollum spends his time in his favorite role, "trying to keep up my two daughters."
