Thousands of school supplies were donated by the public and local businesses, collected at area Wal-Marts, and loaded onto a bus owned by our major sponsor, the Coeur d'Alene Casino and Tribe. The Casino and Tribe then packed the supplies into 500 backpacks that they donated to the drive.

The backpacks will be delivered to area agencies that help school children whose families are struggling financially in Kootenai and Spokane counties.

The two-week "Tools 2 Schools" drive is spearheaded by KREM 2, KSKN 22 and, and supported with daily news coverage, and on-air and online promotion. This helped the school supply drive grow in 2009 despite a difficult economy. KREM 2 and its partners were pleased to commit resources to this important project again this year.
