WFAA Signs Agreement with Dallas Symphony Orchestra to Broadcast One-Hour Version of "Cheer! a Christmas Celebration" on December 24

Dallas, Texas - It is a Texas tradition that thousands of area families look forward to each year: the season's most popular and festive holiday concerts featuring the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Chorus and a children's choir.

October 7, during a special performance on Good Morning Texas, WFAA and Dallas Symphony President Douglas Adams announced that the station would tape a performance of Cheer! A Christmas Celebration, and broadcast it as a one-hour television special on December 24. The DSO 2009 Christmas performances are scheduled to run December 10 through December 20, at the Meyerson. Tickets for the live programs are available at DallasSymphony.com, or by calling DSO guest services at 214-692-0203.

"There is no substitute for a live concert at the Meyerson," said WFAA president and general manager Mike Devlin, "however we hope to capture some of the magical moments for those that may not have an opportunity to see one of the Dallas Symphony's performances of Cheer! A Christmas Celebration in this WFAA special."

WFAA has broadcast several specials taped at the Meyerson before including a series of seasonal programs featuring performances by the Turtle Creek Chorale.
The Dallas Symphony concert will be filled with familiar Christmas music both holiday classics and popular favorites. There will be a special visit from Santa Claus as well.
"We are pleased to be working with the Dallas Symphony on this project and look forward to creating a quality program for families to enjoy," added Devlin.
WFAA is scheduled to tape the performance on December 17.
