KING 5 TV Agreement Brings NBA Games Back to Western WA
15 Portland Trail Blazer Games on KONG & Universal Sports
Blazers vs. LeBron and Kobe Matchups Included
Seattle, WA - NBA sports fans in Western Washington will be able to watch 15 Portland Trail Blazer games this season on KING 5's Universal Sports and KONG TV. Twelve Blazer games will be broadcast on Universal Sports, the 24-hour Olympic and lifestyle network on digital channel 5.2 and Comcast cable channel 115. Three games will air on KING 5's sister station KONG, cable channel 6. Two of KONG's games feature the two biggest superstars in the NBA.
LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will play in Portland on January 10th. The Blazers host the defending champion L.A. Lakers led by Kobe Bryant on February 6th. Both matchups on KONG are weekend games. All 15 matchups are evening tip-offs preceded by thirty minute pre-game shows.
"There's definitely a Seattle connection to the Trail Blazers. You have two local players in Brandon Roy and Martell Webster, plus coach Nate McMillan and owner Paul Allen" said Ray Heacox, President and General Manager, KING 5, KONG 6/16, NWCN, KING5.com and NWCN.com. "On top of that we're showcasing the league's greatest players in LeBron and Kobe. This 15 game Trail Blazers package is a slam dunk for us."
Brandon Roy is from Seattle and was a standout player at Garfield High School and the University of Washington. Martell Webster is from Edmonds and starred at Seattle Prep High School. And Nate McMillan earned the moniker "Mr. Sonic" for his outstanding 19 year career with Seattle's NBA franchise as a player, assistant coach and head coach.
The first of the 15 games is on Universal Sports on Tuesday, October 27th between the Houston Rockets and Blazers in Portland. That's opening night of the regular season. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM and game action starts at 7:00.
