Three of Idaho's leading television media companies have joined forces to produce and televise a series of four live statewide general election debates. KREM-2 (CBS) covers North Idaho from Riggins to Bonners Ferry, KTVB-7 (NBC) covers Idaho from McCall to Burley, and KIFI-8 (ABC) covers East Idaho from Burley to St Anthony. Each television station is the leading provider of news and information in its region and collectively they reach 100% of the cable systems and television homes in the state of Idaho. All debates will be commercial-free and made available for broadcast on Idaho Public Television stations.
The purpose of the debate series is to insure open statewide debate on the important issues facing Idaho in 2010 and beyond. The coalition will produce 4 live general election television debates for Idaho Governor, United States Senate, United States House of Representatives Idaho District 1, and Unites States House of Representatives Idaho District 2. The debates will be produced on location in Caldwell, Twin Falls, and Nampa.
The College of Idaho in Caldwell will host the gubernatorial debate on October 13, 2010 in the Langroise Center. The College of Idaho was founded in 1891 and is a respected private, liberal arts, higher education institution that provides undergraduate education for more than 900 students.
Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa will host the US Senate and US House District 1 debates on October 19 & 20, 2010 in the Brandt Center. NNU was founded in 1913 and is a fully accredited, co-educational, Christian comprehensive university of the arts, humanities, sciences, and professions.
The College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls will host the US House District 2 debate on October 26, 2010. CSI was formed in 1964 and is a comprehensive community college which provides quality educational, social, cultural, economic, and workforce development to students in the Magic Valley and beyond.
